Pssst … Your Blood Here. Here Are 5 Things You Should Know.
Got a few minutes? We have to talk.
I’ve been trying to tell you for a long time that something is wrong. Have you noticed the pressure on your arteries? That’s me. I’ve been making you tired, cramping up your muscles, affecting your weight.
I hope I have your attention now.
I’ve got at least five reasons you and I need to have a little chat.
1. KIDNEY ENZYMES
Your kidneys are helping keep me clean of all the toxins you put in here that make you feel awful. (Not that I’m judging, nobody’s perfect.) If they’re not working properly I’ll be the first to know because I’ll be filthy.
That doesn’t work for me. I like to run a tight ship.
If they’re working right your kidneys ought to be feeding me a certain amount of enzymes that help control blood pressure. Check for those. Too high or low and we’ve got a problem.
2. LIVER FUNCTION
Like the kidneys, your liver is soaking up and getting rid of toxins. But what makes this guy my best friend is that he’s also taking the nutrients I bring him and converting them to food your body can use.
Cells die when they’re not fed. That’s a problem. If I can’t show you a normal level of byproducts from the nutrient breakdown process, definitely call your doctor. You only have one liver!
3. ELECTROLYTES
I should have a healthy mix of minerals like calcium and phosphorous. It’s complicated, but these folks need to be in balance.
I swear, I will drag you down until I get them from your diet. You’ll feel tired and weak, you’ll get headaches or whatever else I need to throw at you to get you to ingest this stuff.
4. CHOLESTEROL & TRIGLYCERIDES
Oh, I know you’ve heard about cholesterol. You want the good kind (HDL), but it’s real easy to build up the bad kind (LDL). Maybe you’re not so familiar with triglycerides. Basically, LDL cholesterol is a fatlike substance that clogs me up, and triglycerides are actual fat that clogs me up. Too much of either is bad.
My problem is I have a really hard time getting you the message there’s a buildup here before something really bad happens. I’m talking heart attack, stroke, the Big Stuff. Put me in a syringe and see how much gunk is in here, please. I got no tricks up my sleeve to get you to do it except to BEG you.
5. BLOOD SUGAR
I love sugar. I call it glucose, but whatever. It’s basically sugar and unlike what you may have heard it’s not a bad thing. If you don’t eat enough I can easily slow you down until you satisfy my sweet tooth.
You do need to stop when I tell you, though. I’m taking this stuff all over your body and too much can easily screw up tissues and organ function.
The thing is, I realize you may not be able to control your sugar levels because of diabetes or some other condition. Do you know whether you have diabetes? I do! Just pull me out and ask.
